Counselling Students

Training to become a counsellor was one of the most exciting, challenging and worthwhile periods of my life. At the same time, I remember feeling very apprehensive about the prospect of going back to education and not so sure about how I would manage my academic life alongside the rest of my life.

My modality is Humanistic Gestalt. By working together, you will be able to experience how a Gestalt session looks and feels. We can introduce "experiments" into our session that may help you look at your presenting issue in a different way while giving you a new perspective and creating a more self-aware view of yourself.

I currently work in a university setting, counselling faculty students. I am familiar with many of the common issues that affect young and mature students.

Student clients may experience: academic pressure, stress, struggle with change in family dynamics, social anxiety, self-confidence issues, difficultyto cope/ with and balance work, family and academic life.

Some issues that may be explored in therapy:

  • Adjusting to college life as a mature student
  • The need/requirement for counselling while in counselling course
  • Balancing family life and college work
  • Balancing college expectations with "real" life/ paid employment
  • Academic assignments/standards
  • Impact of group dynamics on Self
  • Relationship difficulties
  • Separation/Divorce
  • Feeling anxious
  • Feeling stressed
  • Work related issues
  • Support systems.

I am able to offer a reduced rate of £35.00 per session for all counselling students.
